🖌️ The Painting Process

I'm a complete beginner. Is this for me?

  • Definitely! Paint by Number is designed for all skill levels, especially beginners. If you can count, you can create a beautiful painting. It’s a relaxing and guided way to discover the joy of painting.

What's the best way to get started?

    1. Secure your canvas on a flat surface with tape or a clipboard.
    2. Prepare a small cup of water to rinse your brushes and a paper towel to blot them.
    3. Start with one color. Find all the sections with that number and fill them in.
    4. Work from top to bottom and left to right (if you are right-handed) to avoid smudging wet paint.
    5. Work from dark colors to light, and paint the larger background areas first.

Should I apply one or two coats of paint?

  • For the best results, we recommend using two thin coats. The first coat might look a bit translucent, and you might still see the numbers and lines. Once that coat is dry, a second coat will make the colors more vibrant and fully cover the numbers.

How do I prevent the paint from drying out?

  • Always close the paint pot lids tightly immediately after use. For longer sessions, you can use a damp paper towel placed over the paints in the tray to keep them fresh.

🖼️ Finishing & Framing

How should I frame my finished painting?

  • Once your painting is completely dry (wait 1-2 days), you can frame it like any other canvas art! You do not need glass for the frame, as acrylic paint is durable. The canvas can be trimmed and stapled to a standard stretcher frame, which you can find at most craft stores. We also offer [ready-made frames] that fit our standard canvas sizes.

The canvas is wrinkled from shipping. What should I do?

  • No problem! Gently iron the back of the canvas on a low heat setting (no steam). You can also place it under a heavy book for a few hours. The wrinkles will often flatten out naturally once you start painting and the paint adds weight and stiffness.

My canvas looks blurry and the lines are messy up close. Is this normal?

  • Yes, this is completely normal! When viewed up close, the printed lines and numbers can look chaotic. But as you fill in the colors and step back, the image will come into focus and look perfectly clear. Trust the process!
